#R4BIA — the raising of four fingers — symbol for the massacre of unarmed people in Rabaa al-Adawiya Square by Egypt’s US-backed military on August 14, 2013.

“Rabaa” means four, or the fourth in Arabic, and Raaba al-Adawiya Square has now become equally famous as Tahir Square in Cairo due to the resistance of hundreds of thousands of anti-coup protesters. Here’s a useful essay on events from Counterpunch:
