M$ Windows for US Government

I came to personal computing in the late 1990s, starting with Microsoft’s Windows 95, then progressing through each of its incarnations . . . 98SE, 2000, XP, and so on.
Rumours have persisted over the years that there was a back door into the Windows OS which Microsoft had created for the US Government to access our systems. Most people dismissed these stories as being the work of nutters and conspiracy theorists.
Turns out these “nutters” may have been right all along with the latest revelations from Edward Snowden — reported here by Glenn Greenwald in the UK Guardian:
