Avatar – a story for today:
by Patrick O'Brien
It’s a story as old as human kind . . . greedy people taking more, and more, and more of what’s not theirs.
An example close to home:
In Sarawak, the indigenous Penan People, hunter-gathers who, for centuries, have sustainably used Borneo’s forest and river systems for farming, fishing and hunting, are now struggling to stop the destruction of their habitat. Same old story — “developers” and their corrupt politicians, damming rivers and removing forests to enrich themselves.
