Today . . .
They arrived at dawn with chainsaws — unannounced, arrogant — and, on entering her land, proceeded to chop down the trees. We stood in their way, refusing to move, feeling sick to our stomachs at the wanton, unauthorised destruction they’d caused.
“You can’t stop progress,” they jeered.
We did, for now . . .
